A gaggle of business fishermen is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to cease the federal government from making them pay for staff who collect knowledge aboard fishing boats.
The fishermen harvest Atlantic herring off the East Coast and are against a 2020 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration rule that requires the trade to pay authorities displays. The displays are staff who gather knowledge on board fishing vessels to tell laws.
The fishermen, led by primary plaintiff Loper Bright Enterprises of New Jersey, have argued that the requirement forces them to pay greater than $700 per day to third-party contractors, and that makes fishing financially unsustainable.
“Making these vessels pay to have the observer coverage on them just decreases hardworking fishermen’s wages and makes it less attractive for vessels to continue,” stated Wayne Reichle, president of Lund’s Fisheries of New Jersey and an proprietor of two of the boats which are plaintiffs within the case. “In some cases, it prevents them from fishing.”
Biogen tabs Viehbacher as subsequent CEO
Biogen has picked former Sanofi CEO Christopher Viehbacher to change into its subsequent chief, because the drug developer continues to get well from its failed launch of the Alzheimer’s therapy Aduhelm.
The firm stated Thursday that the 62-year-old Viehbacher will change into president and CEO on Monday, changing Michel Vounatsos.
Biogen stated in May that Vounatsos would depart as quickly as the corporate discovered a successor. Viehbacher served six years as CEO of Sanofi earlier than the French drugmaker sacked him in 2014.
