A study said on Friday that people who have received the vaccine (Covid-19 Vaccine) and who have been given a booster shot against COVID-19, are more prone to the Omicron variant (Delta Variant) than the delta variant. To spot the differences between how Omicron and Delta make people sick, the researchers used a free smartphone app called ZOE. On this, more than 63,000 vaccinated people aged 16-99 years in the UK self-reported their Covid-19 symptoms between June 2021 and January 2022.
In people who received two doses of the vaccine and a booster dose, Omicron’s symptoms lasted 4.4 days, while Delta’s symptoms lasted 7.7 days. There was a difference of 3.3 days.
According to the study published in the Lancet medical journal, people who took only two doses but did not take any booster shots. In them, Omicron’s symptoms got better in 8.3 days. Whereas for Delta this time was 9.6 days.
How many people lost their sense of smell?
The study also found that only 17 percent of people with Omicron lost their sense of smell, compared to 53 percent of those infected with Delta. The study will also be presented at the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in Lisbon later this month.
However, people with Omicron had a 55 percent increased risk of developing a sore throat. The odds of having a loud voice were 24 percent higher. The study also found that Omicron patients were 25 percent less likely to be hospitalized.

Study author Christina Maini, from King’s College London, said this was the first study to analyze distinct symptoms of two different variants in a large number of participants.
