In Sambalpur district of Odisha, a doctor has started a one-stop clinic to provide treatment to poor and deprived people. According to an ANI report, Shankar Ramchandani has opened a clinic in the raw market area in Burla Town in the district, where patients have to pay a small fee for treatment. Ramchandani is an Assistant Professor in the Medicine Department of the Medicine Department of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences, Burla.
33 patients came for treatment on the first day
The clinic was inaugurated on Friday and 33 patients came here for treatment on the first day. The clinic is open from seven in the morning to eight in the morning and from six in the evening to seven in the evening. Ramchandani said that this one-stop clinic is a part of his spirit of serving the poor and deprived of his long standing. He said that he always wanted to provide free treatment to the poor and the underprivileged after hours of his job. But because he joined VIMSAR as Senior Resident, he was not allowed to practice privately.
He further stated that he has recently been promoted as Assistant Professor and now he is allowed to practice privately after his working hours, as per the rules. Shankar said that he charges one rupee fee for the treatment of poor and deprived patients, so that they do not feel that they are taking free service.

The idea came after seeing people’s problems
He said that as a doctor, he has seen a lot of old people and people with disabilities, who regularly come to the OPD of the hospital and wait in line for hours to consult the doctors. This encouraged him to open a clinic, where he did not have to wait long to consult a doctor. Ramchandani’s wife Shikha, who is a dental surgeon, is also helping him in this one-clinic.
