Lucknow: The war of Uttar Pradesh, which started from the west, has now reached in the east and Awadh. Here allies of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) have an important role, which have been fielded in about four dozen seats under the agreement. In the last assembly elections, nine out of 11 candidates of Apna Dal (S) had won the election.
These four parties, allies of SP and BJP, have 57 assembly seats under the alliance. Out of which 45 seats are such where voting is to be held in the fifth, sixth and seventh phases. These seats are in Basti, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Devipatan division. The success of these smaller allies in the earlier elections has been achieved in these regions of Purvanchal and Awadh. The coming three phases are also very important for the Apna Dal(S) which is part of the BJP alliance. Apna Dal (Sonelal) is contesting 17 seats in alliance with the BJP, including seven seats in the fifth phase, four seats each in the sixth and seventh phase. Apna Dal (S), the oldest ally of BJP, has contested 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha and 2017 assembly elections together. In the last assembly elections, nine out of 11 candidates of this party had won the elections.
Nishad Party announced 16 candidates
Apart from Apna Dal (Sonelal), BJP’s second ally Nishad Party has declared 16 candidates. In the third phase, except Kalpi, the remaining 15 seats of the Nishad Party are from the fifth to the seventh phase. Despite all the opposition in its own party, the BJP has given the Nishad Party a large number of seats to fight in Purvanchal under the alliance and now the Nishad Party has a big challenge to live up to the trust of the BJP. Six candidates of the Nishad Party are in the fray from the BJP symbol, while 10 candidates are in the fray on the party’s own symbol.
Subhasp announces candidates for 18 seats
Subhasp, which won four seats while with the BJP in the last election, is with the SP in this election. It is worth noting that in the last elections, the BJP’s ally SubhaSP had won all the four seats in Purvanchal itself. Subhasp has so far announced candidates for 18 seats. In half of these seats, the Subhaspati candidates are fighting on the SP symbol. SP’s second ally Apna Dal (Communist) has announced candidates for six seats, President Krishna Patel is in the fray from Pratapgarh Sadar, the fifth phase seat, while Pallavi Patel, the second big leader, is fighting from Sirathu in front of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. . The Apna Dal (Communist) is contesting all the seats except one in the seventh phase. A lot will also depend on the performance of the SP-BJP allies as to who will dominate in the war of the East in UP.
