Mumbai: Since the arrival of a new strain of Coronavirus in Maharashtra, the government seems to be taking precaution about it. Regarding this, Maharashtra Minister Aditya Thackeray said in a tweet that the patient found infected with this new variant has now been cured.
On Twitter, he wrote that the person found to be new variants of Corona is fine, the people coming in contact with him are Corona negative. Samples have been sent to NIBMG for sample testing. I appeal to the people not to panic, but people should take precautions.
The person with the suspected new variant has recovered fully & the high-risk contacts have been covid negative. The samples have been sent to NIBMG, to reconfirm the type of strain.

XE variant not confirmed yet
Regarding the XE variant, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope says that the Health Department has not reached any confirmation on the XE variant as no NIB (National Institute of Biologicals) report has come so far. So there is no need to panic for now. Also he said that all these variants are like a flu. The Health Minister said that as per the information, the XE variant is 10% more contagious than the Omicron variant which is like flu. We will talk about it in detail once we get a report. Not doing a confirmation from Center or NIB.

Variant was found in a woman from Africa
The BMC on Wednesday found XE variant in one patient and the other affected by ‘Kappa’. The new sub-variant of Omicron was detected in the latest genome sequencing of BMC conducted at Kasturba Hospital. A 50-year-old woman who was a fully vaccinated woman had arrived from South Africa on February 10. According to the BMC, she was an asymptomatic patient and had tested negative for Covid-19 upon arrival in India.

On the other hand, the number of corona patients is fluctuating in the state for the last few days. According to the Health Department, 41 new corona infected patients were found in Mumbai on Thursday, out of which 4 needed to be admitted to the hospital, while 1 died. 128 new patients were found in the state on Thursday, while six patients died. In 24 hours, 159 patients in the state recovered and returned home and with this a total of 77,26,184 crore infected patients have recovered and returned home in the state. As a result, the recovery rate of patients in the state is 98.11 per cent. There are currently 828 active patients in the state. Presently the mortality rate in the state is 1.87%.
