- Municipal officials breathed a sigh of relief
Akola. During the period of three years from 2018 to 2020 of Akola Municipal Corporation, 139 resolutions passed by the general assembly at the last moment were temporarily suspended by the Urban Development Department, this order was given by the Urban Development Department on 14 December. The list of these proposals has also been given by the Urban Development Department.
In this order given by the Urban Development Department, it was said that according to section 451(2) of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, within one month from the date of this order, the Municipal Corporation and Municipal Commissioner Akola are being given an opportunity to take action. It was also said that this resolution has been passed in violation of the provision of this Act. Due to which the economic interest of the Municipality has been hampered.
Action should be taken by the Commissioner of Akola Municipal Corporation for registering a crime against the concerned mayor, the concerned city secretary and the then commissioner, who passed these proposals by keeping the rules in mind. These orders were given by Vidya Humpayya, Deputy Secretary, Urban Development Department, Government of Maharashtra. On 23 November 2020, a request was made by the member of the Legislative Council, Gopikisan Bajoria, to investigate these proposals with the government. The government had given these orders regarding this complaint made by him.
The High Court gave a stay order to this order
Against the above order, former Mayor of Akola Municipal Corporation Vijay Aggarwal had filed a petition in the Nagpur Bench of the High Court, on which the Nagpur Bench has stayed the above order till further orders. It has also been said in the order that on January 10, 2022, the government will keep its side in the Nagpur Bench of the High Court. Today Justice A.S. Chandurkar, Justice G.A.
