New Delhi: The first death from Omicron has been recorded in the country amid the growing threat of Omicron. Giving information, the Maharashtra Health Department said that a 52-year-old man admitted to a hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad has died. He had returned from Nigeria a few days ago, after which investigation revealed that he was infected with Omicron. However, he died of a heart attack.
Record 198 cases found in Maharashtra
There has been an explosion of Omicron variants in Maharashtra. For the first time in the state, 198 new cases have been reported in a day, after which the number of infected has increased to 450. In which 125 people have recovered and gone home after recovering.
Omicron is becoming a hotspot in Mumbai. According to the Ministry of Health, out of the total cases reported today, 190 cases have come from Mumbai alone. While the remaining four cases have been found in Thane and one each from Pune, Satara, Pimpri Chinchwad and Nanded respectively.

961 cases in the country so far
So far, the Omicron variant has spread to 23 states and union territories in the country. On Thursday, five new cases were reported in Odisha. According to the Union Health Ministry, so far 961 cases of Omicron have been reported in the country. Health Secretary Luv Aggarwal said that 320 patients infected with Omicron have been cured so far.
