New Delhi: Controversy is increasing in Karnataka regarding Hijab. The Hijab controversy in Karnataka has now spread to even more colleges. Hijab-wearing girl students were stopped at the entrance of Bhandarkars College in Kundapur in the state’s Udupi district on Thursday morning. The video of this incident has also surfaced on social media. According to news agency ANI, students wearing hijab were stopped from entering Bhandarkars College. In the video, an argument can also be seen between some female students of the college and the management.
On not giving entry, the management told the students that, according to the orders of the government and the guidelines of the college, they would have to come to the classes in uniform. The girl students argued that they have been coming to college in hijabs for a long time and they should be allowed. But he was denied admission in the college. According to media reports, the administration of Bhandarkars College on Wednesday also refused to allow students attending classes in saffron shawls. These groups of students were also stopped at the entrance. The students raised slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ after which a tense situation prevailed in the campus.

According to the report, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra said that the police department has already been instructed to investigate the communal forces behind the hijab controversy in the state. He said, “Investigation is on. We will not spare the elements that come in the way of the unity of this country.” He said that niqab, burqa, hijab, saffron or green shawls are not allowed in the classrooms. The Education Minister has already said that the uniform is mandatory. There should be no divisive factor in the academic environment. There are mosques, churches and temples for religious practices.
According to the report, Udupi district in-charge minister S Angara, reacting to the incident at Bhandarkar College, said that he has just taken over the charge of the district. He said, “There will be one rule for all schools and colleges. I will discuss this matter with the District Commissioner. The matter will also be discussed with the Education Minister and the Chief Minister. I will take action as soon as I get the details.”
