- Pulse Polio Vaccination Now on 27th February!
Akola. The National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign to be held next Sunday, 23 January has been postponed due to increasing corona infection. The instructions given by the government in this regard have been received. Under this, pulse polio vaccination campaign will be started next month on Sunday 27 February 2022.
On the one hand, corona patients are increasing day by day in the district, while on the other hand, the corona preventive vaccination campaign is being implemented rapidly in urban and rural areas. Also, according to the mandate, the vaccination plan for the National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign was planned on 23 January by the District Health Department.
For this, action was started to build 1,123 booths, but in view of the increasing number of corona victims, the government has decided to postpone this campaign to avoid the risk of infection. National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign will now be implemented on 27 February 2022 instead of 23 January, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Manish Sharma has given this information.
Stock of 12 lakh 9 thousand vaccines available
Under this campaign, children from zero to five years of age will be vaccinated against polio. Health system is ready for this in all the five districts of Amravati division. Health officials have been instructed to follow the rules of COVID at the vaccination booths while administering the polio dose. During this, a stock of 12 lakh 9 thousand vaccines was made available to Amravati division for this polio vaccination campaign, this information has been given by Rajendra Ingale, Senior Drug Manufacturing Officer, Office of the Deputy Director of Health.
Regional Officer of the World Health Organization in the district, Dr.S.R. Thosar, Maternal and Child Care Officer Dr. Manish Sharma, Resident Medical Officer Dr. Chimankar, District Malaria Officer Dr. Aditya Mahankar and all the medical officers and staff of Sub District Hospital, Rural Hospital and PHC are striving to make this campaign successful. 1.34 lakh children taking polio dose in the district
According to the information received, 1 lakh 34 thousand 459 children of zero to five years of age are to be administered polio in Akola district, except the municipal area. For this, 561 booths with three members and 562 booths with two members have been made. 2807 health workers will be posted here. Supervisor, employee is also ready for home visit. The training of employees for vaccination is going on and its schedule is fixed.
The vaccination officers were supposed to distribute the necessary materials for vaccination to the concerned staff by January 15, but now the campaign has been postponed and the stock of vaccines has been kept in the refrigerator to keep the cold chain regular. Rajendra Ingle has given information about the availability of 12 lakh nine thousand 4 vaccines in these storage machines at present. Meanwhile, an additional stock of 82 thousand vaccines has been received for Akola Municipal Area and 91 thousand for Amravati Municipal Area.
