Thane : Four years ago, the then Municipal Commissioner of Thane Sanjeev Jaiswal built an art on the lines of Art Plaza in Kala Ghoda near Singhania School at Pokhran No. 1 of Thane. The gallery was built. The Municipal Corporation had spent one crore rupees to build this art gallery. But now it is crying about its pathetic condition due to not being taken care of properly by the Municipal Corporation. At the same time, the matter of starting the work of destroying this art gallery through the construction department of the Municipal Corporation has come to light. Because big pits have been dug in the middle of this gallery and foot over bridge pillars are also being built in this area. Therefore MNS has expressed the possibility of extinction of this art gallery. Along with this, Swapnil Mahindrakar of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena on Monday went down in the pit and agitated to save the art gallery.
It is worth noting that during the road expansion of Thane’s Pokhran number one, the then commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal had built an art gallery on the lines of Kala Ghoda of Mumbai four years ago on the concept of Pramod Nimbalkar, the then planner of the city development department. The objective of the Municipal Corporation was to provide a greater opportunity to art lovers in Thane to fill their art exhibitions by prioritizing their art. This art gallery was designed to display around 40 artistic paintings. But in the last four years, due to the apathy of the concerned department of the Municipal Corporation, it could not be taken care of properly and now it has reached a dilapidated state. Now, through the Public Works Department of the Municipal Corporation, big pits have been dug in the gallery and the construction work of the pillars of the footover bridge has also been started.
