Srinagar: The State Intelligence Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested 10 people on charges of working for the banned terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed. Officials gave this information on Wednesday. SIA is the newly formed branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police. He said SIA officials conducted overnight raids at various places in the south and central districts of Kashmir and ten people were arrested. The SIA was formed recently and the agency has been entrusted with the investigation of crimes related to terrorism and separatism.
Officials said that during the SIA investigation, 10 people working for the banned terror group’s “sleeper cells” or group were identified. None of them were aware of each other’s activities and were directly taking instructions from the terrorist commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammed. An official said that the people of this module were working in such a way that even if one member is caught, the big network is not busted.

This module was detected through continuous monitoring. Those arrested were involved in recruiting youth, arranging money and transporting weapons to south and central Kashmir. Cell phones, SIM cards, bank transaction records and a dummy pistol were also seized during the searches, officials said. Those arrested include the man in whose house four terrorists were killed on April 4, 2020.
The motive of these people was to finance terrorist activities in south and central Kashmir and recruit school and college going students, he said. Digital records have been seized from them and they are being sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis of the evidence.
