On the special occasion of World Health Day on 7th April last, formalization of MoU between selected institutions and the government for establishment of medical colleges on PPP model in Maharajganj and Sambhal districts was completed. The timeline for starting admission in these two medical colleges from the academic session 2024-25 has been fixed. Under this model, reputed institutions in the field of education, health and hospital management are selected and after ascertaining their experience, functioning, arrangement of operating hospitals, resources as well as the action plan of the proposed new medical college. New medical colleges are started on the basis of timeliness, transparency and quality.

Achievement of Ayushman Yojana
Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has also made a big and important contribution towards providing good health services to the weaker section of the population of the state, and Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in its implementation. The scheme was started on 23rd September 2018 and under this the beneficiaries get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh annually. Under this scheme, Ayushman cards have been made available to more than 18 crore beneficiaries so far in which 1.80 crore cards have been made in Uttar Pradesh only.
