New Delhi: Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said on Thursday that the eyes of the entire country are on the Tata group and Air India. People are looking forward to see what we are going to achieve together. He said this in a letter to Air India employees after the group acquired the ownership of the state-run airline from the government.
He also said that the Tata group is committed to make Air India a world class airline. Chandrasekaran exuded confidence that the golden era of Air India is about to come. The Central Government has officially reassigned Air India to the Tata Group after nearly 69 years.
In a message to Air India employees, Chandrashekhar said, “I have learned to preserve what is best of the past and that requires constant change. The best honor of a glorious history is to prepare and adapt it to the future.”

He said, “The eyes of the whole country are on us. They are waiting to see what we will achieve together… We need to look to the future to build the airline our country needs.”
Air India was started by the Tata group in 1932. However, after independence the airline was nationalized in 1953. “From the day of the announcement (October 8, 2021), there is only one word on everyone’s tongue – ghar wapsi,” Chandrasekaran said.
He said, “Today is the beginning of a new chapter. On behalf of the Tata group, I am writing this letter to welcome you to the group.” Chandrashekhar said, “My first flight was with Air India in December 1986 and I will never forget how special it was to be on the ship….”

He said that these memories are wonderful, but now is the time to look ahead. He completely agrees that the golden age of Air India is about to come. He also said in a statement that the Tata group is fully aware of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to reforms and faith in India’s entrepreneurial spirit. ‘Historical change’ has been possible because of this reason.
Chandrasekaran said in the statement, “We are excited to have Air India back in the Tata Group and are fully committed to making it a global airline. I warmly welcome all Air India employees to our group and look forward to working together.”
The group also said that it agrees with the Prime Minister’s vision of ensuring that the aviation sector is affordable and contributes to “ease of living” for citizens.(agency)
