Chandrasekaran said that by joining Air India, the Tata Group has got an opportunity to represent the aspirations of 130 crore Indians. We are already involved in the lives of 600 million Indians through our various brands including Taj Hotels, Tanishq, Tata Salt and Jaguar Land Rover.
Emphasis will be on four main areas
Chandrasekaran identified four key areas on which the new Air India management would focus. These include providing best-in-class customer service, making it the world’s most technologically advanced airline, and improving and modernizing fleet and hospitality.

On modernization of the fleet, Chandrasekaran said, “We will upgrade our fleet. We will modernize our fleet. We will bring new aircraft in the fleet, we will increase our reach.

The workforce of Air India, Air India Express and AI-SATS is around 15,000. Of these, Air India has 12,000 employees, of which 8,000 are permanent.
