New Delhi/Chennai. Where on the one hand the voting for the urban body elections in Tamil Nadu has started on Saturday morning amid tight security arrangements.
On the other hand, during the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies elections, a woman voter who arrived wearing a hijab at a polling station in Madurai was strongly objected to by a member of the BJP booth committee, and also asked the said woman to remove her. Due to this dispute, DMK, AIADMK members protested against them on the issue, after which the police also intervened and asked them to leave the booth.

Significantly, 57,778 candidates are in the fray this time for 12,607 posts of ward members in 648 urban local bodies including various municipal corporations, municipalities and city panchayats and voting is going on in over 31,000 polling stations.
