Sujanpur (Pathankot): Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal has no right to seek votes in Punjab as he has spent a long time in the last five years. Had not visited the state till the time. Sukhbir Badal said this while addressing a public meeting in favor of his party’s Sujanpur candidate Raj Kumar Gupta.
Badal said that Kejriwal did not come to Punjab even during the COVID-19 epidemic. Accusing Kejriwal of trying to “betray the Punjabis again”, Badal told people, “You are already suffering by relying on the false oath taken by former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Now, a party of outsiders is trying to woo you by asking you to give me a chance.” The SAD chief said, “I ask the Aam Aadmi Party why Punjabis should trust him. Its convener came to Punjab five years ago and his party also won 20 seats to emerge as the main opposition party in the state. However, instead of raising the voice of the people, 11 of its 20 MLAs joined the Congress.

Badal said, “Kejriwal did not come to Punjab more than once a year before the election process began. He did not care to send any medicines to Punjab as Chief Minister of Delhi. He did not even visit the state during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you give them a chance and elect Aam Aadmi Party to power then how can you trust them that they are standing with you.”
Urging Punjabis to reject outsiders, the SAD president said only the SAD-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance represents the regional aspirations of the people.
