Strawberry crop is taken at cold places. Due to which this crop is taken on a large scale in Mahabaleshwar. Strawberry is also cultivated on the lines of Nandanvan Chikhaldara in Vidarbha. Strawberry crop is taken in Chikhaldara for the last 4 years on the initiative of District Magistrate and Agriculture Revision Department. Grants are given to tribal farmers.
In Chikhaldara whose fields have irrigation facilities, they are encouraged to grow strawberry. Narayan Khadke in Aladoh and Sadhuram in Motha started strawberry farming. After which many tribal farmers are taking strawberry crop.
huge demand for tourists
Farmer Sadhuram told the students that Strawberry saplings are brought from Mahabaleshwar at the rate of Rs.12 per piece. Which is planted in Chikhaldara. The total cost of 1 acre is 1 lakh rupees. Farmers get an income of one and a half to two and a half lakh rupees. A box of 200 grams has been sold for Rs 40 to 60. Strawberry is in good demand from the tourists. Traders of Paratwada and Amarvati are carrying strawberries. Due to which marketing is easily possible.
6 months harvest
Strawberry growing farmer told the students that this crop is taken for 6 months. Strawberry crop flourishes in winter. Strawberry fruits come by the month of March. Strawberry vine starts drying up when the temperature rises. The incidence of germs is very less. Pesticide is sprayed. Strawberry has emerged as a cash crop for tribal farmers. The students got to know all kinds of nuances.

Agricultural marketing course has been started in Jagdamba Mahavidyalaya since last 13 years. Certificate, Diploma, Advance Diploma can be completed by students taking such courses in college. Admission in this course is possible in Arts, Commerce and Science branches. Many students have got employment from this course. Some students are working in agriculture company. While some are in government jobs. Dr. Narendra Raikwar, co-ordinator of Agricultural Marketing under the guidance of the institution’s President Ramakant Sherkar, Principal Dr. Rohankar, is running this course successfully.
