- 200 page report
- Conclusion of the investigation in 17 pages
Nagpur. The administration had lodged a complaint with the Sadar police station, citing that the stationery scam exposed in the Municipality was only 67 lakhs at the primary level. On the basis of this, the police got involved in the investigation, but the Thackeray committee constituted by the assembly of the Municipality, in its preliminary investigation report itself, has expressed the apprehension of the stationery scam being more than 6 crores.
On Thursday, the committee submitted the report to Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari for placing it before the House. In this report of about 200 pages, information about the process of investigation and excerpts of statements made for officers and employees of departments and conclusions drawn by the committee in 17 pages has been exposed. What was recommended by the committee in the report will be disclosed only after the report is laid in the House.
Action recommended on many officers
While submitting the report on Thursday, committee president Avinash Thackeray may have refused to reveal the recommendations of the committee citing this report being the property of the house, but sources informed that the report recommended action against many officials. It is said that the police arrested some employees during the investigation of the scam, but the committee believes that the arrested employees are only pawns, while the ‘real artist’ behind the scam is still out of custody. The administration made efforts at every level to remove the air of this scam. Terming it only as an administrative mistake, disciplinary action was recommended, but it is not an administrative mistake but a case of deliberate financial rigging. The situation is that the one who was patting his back for exposing the scam, finally the police arrested him too.
Action will be taken against the culprits
The scope of the stationery scam is huge, while the tenure of the committee members is very short. In such a situation, it is not possible to conduct intensive investigation in a limited time. Due to the end of the term on March 4, the committee has given the preliminary report. This report will be placed before the meeting of the Municipal Corporation, after which instructions will be given to take action against the culprits.

Check all administrative officers
After getting the green signal of the commissioner to the inquiry committee, 14 meetings of the committee have been held. In these, 6-6 hours of investigation was done, in which information about irregularities of crores at the primary level has been exposed. The scope of irregularities can increase if there is a thorough investigation. The committee tried to investigate the involvement of all the administrative officers by investigating them. Like irregularities, time is also needed for investigation. Due to the guidance of retired judge SP Mulay, the committee has been able to prepare the preliminary report in the shortest possible time. Further action will be taken as per the directions of the House.
