Mumbai: The report of the High Level Committee regarding the merger of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (ST) in the government is stuck. The state government on Friday informed the high court that the report is in its final stages. The deadline has now been extended till February 18 to submit the report of the three-member committee constituted in this regard. Now the next hearing of this case will be held on February 22 in the Mumbai High Court.
A bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Makrand Karnik directed the government to submit the Chief Minister’s opinion along with the report in a sealed cover. A high level committee has been constituted on the directions of the Mumbai High Court regarding the demands of merger of ST Corporation with the state government. This includes the Chief Secretary of the State, Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary of the Transport Department. This committee has heard the views of all the ST labor unions as well as the employees of the corporation. The committee will submit a report to the Chief Minister with the issues raised by the ST employees and their views. The committee was directed to complete the process within 12 weeks from November 8. However, due to the delay, the deadline has now been extended to February 18.
