Let us tell you that on Thursday itself, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) banned Russian and Belarusian players from the Winter Paralympics (Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics) due to their countries’ role in the war in Ukraine.
IPC President Andrew Persons said, “Several members have contacted us in the last 12 hours. They said that if we do not reconsider our decision, there could be dire consequences.”
“To the para athletes from the affected countries, we are deeply sorry that you are also affected by the decisions your governments took last week to violate the Olympic Truth. You have been a victim of the actions of your governments,” he said.
