Mumbai : In view of the increasing cases of COVID infection in Mumbai, instructions are being given to take special precautions at railway stations. There is a huge increase in the case of Corona, while local trains are also getting crowded. Only those taking both doses of the vaccine have been allowed to travel in local and other public transport.
Social distancing is difficult in local trains due to heavy rush. Awareness campaign is being conducted through RPF on Western Railway regarding the compliance of Corona rules. CPRO Sumit Thakur informed that Western Railway on its part is taking necessary steps to make the passengers aware about the necessary precautions to control the spread of this pandemic.

Lakhs of passengers travel in Mumbai’s local trains, which are called the lifeline of the city. A massive awareness campaign is underway at major stations of Mumbai Division of RPF Western Railway to make them aware to follow the COVID protocol while traveling. Passengers are being made aware about the use of masks, hand sanitization and social distancing by the RPF staff. Passengers are being made aware and educated about this subject through banners, pamphlets and loudspeakers in collaboration with various NGOs. However, social distancing is impossible in view of the huge crowd. Passengers are constantly being appealed to wear masks.
68 lakh passengers
It was told that more than 68 lakh people are traveling daily in Mumbai’s local trains. Due to the rapid pace with which the cases of corona have increased, people are being forbidden to go in the crowd, but due to the huge crowd in the local, social distancing is becoming impossible to follow. Penal action is also being taken on those traveling without masks on Central and Western Railway. According to a senior railway official, now the fear of the third wave has subsided among the people, although due to the crowd in the local, the risk of further increase of corona infection remains.
