MumbaiMumbai: Although Mumbai is at the forefront of vaccination in the state, the vaccination of adolescents has got a very slow start. In the last 5 days, 50,618 adolescents have taken the vaccine in Mumbai. According to officials, in the initial days of Mumbai, only 9 centers were being vaccinated, due to which the number is less, but now 40 centers are being vaccinated, so the figures may increase in the coming days.
In view of the third wave of corona, the central government announced to start immunization of adolescents aged 15 to 18 from January. Several arrangements have been made for immunization of adolescents in the state including Mumbai. Vaccination has got a good start in the state, but in Mumbai the start has been slow.
Vaccination is being done in 40 centers
A senior BMC health department official said that initially the number was less due to less number of centres, but now vaccination is being done in 40 centres. Gradually the number will increase. At the same time, if some experts are to be believed, many parents in Mumbai are still in a dilemma about whether to get their children vaccinated or not. At present, no side effects have been seen in adolescents, so parents’ confidence in the vaccine should increase in the coming days.

14.77 lakh took the vaccine in the state
Vaccination has started well in the state. There are 60 lakh adolescents in the state, out of which 14 lakh 77 thousand 173 adolescents have taken the vaccine in just 5 days, while in Mumbai, 50 thousand out of the total 9 lakh adolescents have taken the vaccine. Mumbai’s contribution to the state’s immunization is currently 2 to 3 per cent.
