As India battled the Covid pandemic in 2020, then Assam well being minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave contracts to firms of his spouse and son’s enterprise companions to produce PPE kits above market charges, AAP chief Manish Sisodia alleged on Saturday citing media studies.
At a press convention, he claimed that whereas the Assam authorities procured PPE kits for Rs 600 a bit from different firms, Sarma gave pressing provide orders to the companies of his spouse and son’s enterprise companions for Rs 990 a bit “taking advantage of the COVID-19 emergency”.
The agency belonging to Sarma’s spouse doesn’t even deal in medical gear, he alleged.
“While the contract given to the firm of Sarma’s wife was cancelled as the company could not supply PPE kits, another supply order was given to the firm belonging to the business partners of his son at a rate of Rs 1,680 per kit,” Sisodia stated citing the media report.
He stated two web sites had collaborated on the story and revealed it two days in the past.
The AAP chief requested why the members of the BJP had been silent on corruption by a chief minister of a state dominated by the saffron social gathering.
“They talk of corruption and level baseless allegations against members of opposition parties. I want to probe their understanding of corruption… want to ask them if they consider this (Assam case) corruption or not,” Sisodia added.
He stated the Enforcement Directorate arrested Satyendar Jain on “bogus” costs of corruption and the Centre advised the court docket on Friday that he’s “not an accused”.
The ED had arrested Jain on May 30 in a cash laundering case after hours of questioning. The company has alleged that the AAP chief and his spouse had amassed disproportionate wealth value Rs 1.47 crore between February 2015 and May 2017, greater than double their recognized sources of earnings.
