The brutal murder of a man at the site of the farmers’ protest on the border of Delhi and Haryana has shocked everyone. After the murder, the man’s body was hung from the police barricade and his severed hand was also tied with the body. This horrifying incident happened on the Singhu border on Friday. The horrific incident has been blamed on the Nihangs, a Sikh group known for their blue dress and swords.
Hours after the horrific crime, a man dressed in blue Nihangs appeared before the media, claiming that he had “punished” the man for “desecrating” the Sikh holy scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib.
Nihang Sarvjit Singh later surrendered to the police, but before that he told his comrades that if anyone “dare to commit a crime like sacrilege again”, they are ready to do such an act again. . When asked whether he has any remorse for committing this incident? Saravjit said, “No”.
The police took Saravjit into custody amid the slogans of “Jo Bole So Nihal”. He will be produced in court today. His video of him taking responsibility for the murder went viral on social media platforms.
In the purported video clip of the crime, some men dressed in blue turbans and robes are seen standing near the head of the injured man with his severed left hand. The group can be heard accusing the man of insulting a Sikh holy book.
The video purportedly shows the Nihangs asking the man where he had come from and who had sent him to “mutilate” him. Lakhbir can be heard pleading with the group in Punjabi language. The source and authenticity of the video could not be confirmed.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hansraj said, “An FIR has been registered in the matter.” Haryana Police said the body was found tied to a barricade near Singhu protest site Manch around 5.30 am on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Lakhbir Singh, a Dalit farm laborer and a resident of village Cheema Khurd in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. Police said Lakhbir Singh, 35, worked as a laborer and had no criminal record or links with any political party. However, the family of the deceased says that he could not have done the desecration.
