The males who shot three others who they wrongly believed to be rival gang members in Lynn in 2018, leaving 25-year-old Romel Danis lifeless, have been sentenced to life in jail, one with out the potential of parole.
An Essex County Superior Court jury on Oct. 28 convicted Figueroa-Flores, 23, of first-degree homicide and two counts of assault and battery with a harmful weapon. On Thursday, Judge William Barrett sentenced Figueroa-Flores to life in jail with out the potential of parole.
The co-defendant, Nathaniel Pagan, 20, pleaded responsible on Oct. 12 to second-degree homicide. He was sentenced to life in jail with the potential of parole after 20 years.
“My brother is gone. We’re going to suffer for the rest of our lives just like their family is going to suffer for the rest of their lives,” Danis’ older brother Jhonny Bryan, which is the proper spelling in accordance with Danis’ obituary, mentioned on the 2018 arraignment. “There’s really no justice, there’s no happy ending.”
Figueroa-Flores and Pagan — who was a minor on the time — “laid in wait” on Lawton Street within the early morning hours of June 23, 2018., till Danis and two different males the pair suspected wrongly of being rival gang members walked previous, in accordance with prosecutor Kelleen Forlizzi.
