Mumbai: The ST employees who went on strike demanding to be included in the service of the State Government have suffered a setback. The three-member committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to resolve the issue of ST employees has categorically refused to include ST employees in the service of the state government. On Friday, Transport Minister Anil Parab laid both the reports of the committee on the table of both the houses of the legislature.
The committee in its report said that as per the Road Transport Act, 1950, it is not legally possible to include ST employees in the service of the state government. The demand of ST Mahamandal merging completely in the State Government and considering all the employees as government employees and doing the business of passenger transport of the Mahamandal on behalf of the government department is also not worth considering as per the legal provisions.

Recommendation to increase basic pay
The committee has recommended an increase of Rs 5000 in the basic pay of the employees who have completed 10 years of service in ST, Rs 4000 in the basic pay for those who have served for 20 years and Rs 2500 in the basic pay of the employees who have served more than 20 years. .
Three major demands of ST Mahamandal employees
Increase dearness allowance from 12 percent to 28 percent like state government employees before the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Transport Minister, giving 8,16 and 24 percent respectively to housing allowance according to the classification of cities, increased by 2 percent The main demand was to raise the tax to 3 percent. These demands have already been granted. With this, the burden of Rs 360 crore per month has already increased on ST Mahamandal. In view of the present situation of the corporation, it has been recommended to provide funds in the budget for four consecutive years to pay salaries on time to the employees.
Return to work by March 10, otherwise action
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab has appealed to the striking employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (ST) to return to work by March 10. He has said that if this does not happen, all options are open before the government. He said that the report of the three-member committee states that ST corporation cannot be merged with the state government. The state government has submitted the report to the court. On the other hand, this report was presented in both the houses of the legislature on Friday. Parab said that at present 52,000 workers are not working. Out of this, action has been taken against 30 thousand employees. Some have been suspended and some have been issued notices. Parab said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray assured that if the employees return to work, the action against them will be withdrawn. We have to think differently if employees don’t come to work, he warned.
