- Only 50 rupees per day fine on the contractor, the officers sheltered the contractor
Wardha: The construction work of employees’ residence in Selu Tehsil Office and Rural Hospital Complex has not been completed in the last 7 years. As a result, the work of the Tehsil office is taking shelter in a rented house and the staff of the hospital have to take shelter elsewhere. It has also come to the fore that the PWD has special favor on the contractor who delays the work. While not taking any concrete action on the contractor, a nominal fine of Rs 50 per day is being imposed.
Due to the inconvenience caused to the citizens due to the condition of the building of Selu Tehsil office, there was a constant demand for construction. As a result, another proposal of the state government was sent by the Public Works Department regarding the construction of a new building for the Tehsil office. After the state government approved the proposal, proceedings were started in respect of building a new building by demolishing the dilapidated building of the Tehsil office. Bhoomipujan for the construction of the building was also done.
Rs 229.88 lakh was approved
The state government had sanctioned Rs 229.88 lakh for the construction of Tehsil office building. Due to which the concerned contractor was ordered to start the work on 30 March 2013 with respect to the construction of the building. This work was to be completed by the concerned contractor by 29 April 2014. But the construction of the building was not completed on time due to the contractor working at some speed.
Due to the contractor not completing the work on time, it was necessary to take action on him by the Public Works Department. But for several months, the department adopted a procrastination policy. But due to lack of improvement in the work of the contractor and due to the pressure of public representatives, the Public Works Department took action against the contractor only for show. The department has imposed a nominal fine of Rs 50 on the contractor. The contractor did not pay any attention due to less amount of fine.
218 lakhs spent on construction work
So far, Rs 218 lakh has been spent on the building construction of the Tehsil office. But the work of Tehsil office is not complete. Due to the delay of seven years in the construction of the building due to the delay of the contractor, now there has been a huge increase in the cost of construction. Due to the non-completion of the Tehsil office building, the work of the office is going on in the rented building for the last seven years. Due to which the citizens and tehsil workers are facing huge inconvenience.
The ruins became the residence of the hospital workers
Rs 349.15 lakh was sanctioned for the construction of residential accommodation in the hospital premises for the officers and employees of the rural hospital. This work was to be completed by 29 April 2014. The contract for the construction work was awarded to Vighnaharta Construction. The contractor’s residence work is incomplete. Rs 172.51 lakh has been spent on the above work. But due to not completing this work in the stipulated time, today the residence has turned into ruins.
Due to lack of residence for the officers and employees, they live in a rented house elsewhere. In such a situation, if a patient comes to the hospital in a critical condition during the night, he cannot be treated at the proper time. Due to which his life remains in danger. The Public Works Department has also been very kind to the contractor who delayed the work. In return for not completing the work on this contractor, only Rs 50 per day is being fined.
the matter reached the assembly
Due to incomplete work of Tehsil office and hospital residence and no action has been taken against the contractor, MLA Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar No. has proposed a calling attention in this context in the winter session. Despite the constant correspondence regarding both the works, he has accused him of being hesitant in completing the work.
Cellu Pans building is also dilapidated
The building of Selu Panchayat is also dilapidated at present. Due to this building being old, water drips from the roof during rainy days. Due to the dilapidated part of the building, the officers and personnel have to work keeping their lives in their palms due to the danger of falling anytime.
