Russia has intensified bombings in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. On Tuesday it attacked the city’s main television tower and two apartment complexes located in a town in the northwest of the city, AFP news agency reported. The Ukrainian military said fighting was also going on between Russian and Ukrainian troops in Kharkiv.
The Russian attack has severely affected medical and other essential services in Ukraine. Doctors fear that interruption in treatment could worsen the condition of children with cancer. A doctor at the Children’s Hospital in Kyiv told NBC that these children are suffering greatly because they need to survive to fight cancer.
He said that cancer victims cannot wait for the innocent fight to end. He said that if the patients do not get the necessary treatment, they will die. The United Nations has estimated that 12 million people in Ukraine will need relief and protection amid the crisis. On Tuesday, it launched an emergency appeal to raise $1.7 billion to help the Ukrainian people.
