Russia- Ukraine War: Russian forces have intensified the bombing of Europe’s largest nuclear power station in Ukraine. A spokesperson for the plant in Enerhodar posted a video of it and said that it is the real nuclear danger of Europe’s largest nuclear power station.
Spokesperson Andrey Tuj said: “We call for a halt to attacks with major weapons.” He posted a video related to it on Telegram. The plant contributes 25 percent of Ukraine’s total electricity generation.
A fire broke out in one of the plant’s six reactors
Tuz told Ukrainian television that the bombing was taking place directly at the Zaporizhzhya plant and caused a fire in one of the plant’s six reactors. He said that the reactor is not in operation but its renovation is going on, but there is nuclear fuel inside.
“The firefighters can’t get close to the fire because they’re firing,” Tuz said.
Simultaneous explosions in nearby buildings
A live-streamed security camera mounted atop the nuclear power plant shows armored vehicles parked in the plant’s parking lot and lighting up the building. This is followed by flashes of vehicles and then simultaneous explosions in the surrounding buildings.
The battle continues in Enerhodar, a city situated on the banks of the Dnipar River. This development has come to the fore during the ongoing second round of talks between the two sides. So far, the two sides have reached a tentative agreement to establish safe corridors inside Ukraine for the evacuation of civilians and humanitarian aid.
Flames and smoke only smoke over the city
The mayor of Enerhodar said Ukrainian forces were fighting Russian forces on the outskirts of the city. In the video, flames and black smoke can be seen rising over the city of more than 50,000 population. It also shows damaged cars. A day earlier, the UN Atomic Watchdock Agency had expressed deep concern that the war could lead to a major accident in 15 nuclear reactors of Ukraine.
