Russia-Ukraine War: The Russian military launched a military operation against Ukraine on Thursday following the announcement by Russian President Vladimir Putin, which continues on Friday. The conflict that started between Russia and Ukraine has created panic all over the world. On the very first day of the war, tremendous devastation has been seen in Ukraine. Putin has also warned other countries that any attempt to interfere with Russian action will have consequences they have never seen before.
However, after the Russian attack on Ukraine, there have been protests against the war in many cities of Russia itself. So far 1,700 people have been arrested in these protests. Protests have started around the world against Russia’s attack. In the US city of New York, hundreds of protesters wrapped themselves in the flag of Ukraine and marched towards the Russian mission of the United Nations (UN).
World leaders have condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and warned that Russia would suffer loss of life and property. Along with this, countries around the world have promised strict sanctions against Russia. Some former European leaders have resigned from Russian boards to register their protest against Russia’s actions.

The US has not yet announced any military action, but President Joe Biden announced new economic sanctions against Russia late Thursday. Responding to an attack by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Biden has targeted Moscow’s banking, technology and aerospace sectors.
Under this, Russia will no longer be able to trade dollars, pounds and euros. The sanctions are intended to limit Russia’s ability to trade in dollars, euros, pounds and yen. At the same time, the US has also targeted five major Russian banks, including state-owned banks Sberbank and VTB.
Former Finnish Prime Minister Esko Aho has stepped down as director of Russia’s largest bank Sberbank. Meanwhile, former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has resigned from the board of Delimobil, the largest car-sharing service in Russia.
Meanwhile, former Austrian leader Christian Kern has resigned from the board of the Russian railway company RZD. Russia may also miss the chance to host the Champions League final. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is scheduled to meet today to decide on the matter.
Apart from this, Russian sports stars have also opposed the attack on Ukraine. Tennis player Andrey Rublev said that it is important to have peace and unity in the world, according to the AFP news agency. Valery Meladze, one of Russia’s most popular singers, called on his country to stop the violence. The Guardian quoted him as saying that something happened today that should never have happened.
