Pimpri: New names are being given to roads, squares and public properties by changing the names given by Pimpri Chinchwad Urban Area Committees. Therefore, the administration has framed rules for naming municipal properties to curb this. Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil has given orders to all the regional offices and accordingly the process of working has been decided.
The Municipal General Assembly passed a resolution in January 1998 naming the roads and public places in the municipal area. This is how it is named. Such powers are vested in the regional offices. However, it has been observed that new names are being given to roads and public places by changing the names given by the Regional Committees. Therefore, the naming process was postponed to January 2, 2020, until a separate policy on nomenclature was finalised. Finally on February 10, 2021, a committee consisting of the Deputy Mayor and the officers of the Municipal Corporation was appointed and after a thorough study on the nomenclature it was mentioned that the report would be submitted by the committee.
