Nagpur. The increasing cases of COVID have created trouble in front of the families of the psychiatric patients of rural areas. When the relatives come to the regional psychiatric hospital for treatment, they are asked to bring the RT-PCR report of COVID. In the absence of reports, they have to wait for hours in this winter season. Most of the patients come from rural areas outside, so they have to wait a long time for the test first and later for the report. This situation has been going on for the past several days.
It is being told that within the last 15 days, about 9-10 people here got infected due to some corona positive patient. RT-PCR report is now necessary for admission of patients in psychiatric hospital. Therefore, these patients have to first be shown to the mental pathologist of Mayo and Medical.
The patient’s disease has been detected after the examination of specialists. If needed, he is referred to the regional psychiatric hospital. This system has been running for the last one year but now the COVID test remains a hindrance in the middle of it. The relatives of the patients say that they have no problem in getting the COVID test done but the reports are not being received on time.
spending the night at the station
Most of the people who come to the psychiatric hospital come from rural areas. Due to paucity of funds, they depend only on government treatment. During the winter, they have to spend the night in the open waiting for the report. Due to which their relatives who came with the patient have also started getting sick. They are forced to stay at the railway station, bus stand or bus stop near the hospital to spend the night. Most of the people have to wander to stay because there is no arrangement by the psychiatry to accommodate the relatives of the patients.
