New Delhi: Five persons, including two employees of a mobile phone accessories company, have been arrested in North Delhi for allegedly robbing the company of over Rs 17 lakh and showing it as an incident of robbery. The police gave this information on Thursday. Police said that they have recovered about 95 per cent of the amount.
After carrying out the robbery, the main accused Deepak lodged a complaint with the Bada Hindu Rao police station that his colleague Rahul and he were returning to their office in Karol Bagh in an auto rickshaw on a motorcycle in Fatehpuri when they were returning from a customer with a payment of Rs 17.71 lakh. Two people on board attacked him.
He said the attackers fled with the money and their mobile phones. Believing Deepak’s words, his owner also reached the police station to file a complaint with him. On the basis of his statement, a case was registered and a special team was formed to investigate, the police said. He said he got suspicious of Deepak after visiting the alleged crime scene.

He said that even the CCTV footage recovered from the area did not give any clue about the robbery. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said that on separate interrogations, Deepak, Rahul and their auto driver friend Kishan told different stories. The DCP said, “When all of them were questioned again, Deepak burst into tears and confessed to the robbery.
He told that they committed the crime to earn easy money.” The official said that Deepak had joined the company six months ago. The other two accused have been identified as Satya Narayan and Sanjay. The DCP said that after conducting several raids, the police recovered the looted Rs 16.80 lakh, mobile phone, auto rickshaw and the two-wheeler used in the incident. (agency)
