- Water crisis problem will take a fierce form in the coming days
Gadchiroli, The sound of sunshine is being felt in the district since March. From the last fortnight, the sun seems to be increasing its heat. Due to which there is a massive drop in the water level in the district. Let us tell you that in the month of March itself, there is a scene of extinction of water streams from the rivers of the district. Now the month of April has started.
Due to which the temperature is rising in the district, while the life-giving rivers seem to be drying up. The water stream of the Wainganga River, which is the main river of the district, also seems to be thin. Due to which the possibility of cloud of water crisis is being expressed in Gadchiroli district in the coming days.
By the way, Gadchiroli district is not only forest-rich but also water-rich. Wainganga, Pranahita, Godavari, Indravati Barmasi rivers flow from the border of Gadchiroli district. Along with this, rivers like Kathani, Potphodi, Gadhvi, Khobragadi, Pal, Sati, Dina, Pearlkota, Pamulgotam, Bande etc. flow in the district. During the rainy days, these rivers assume a formidable form, whereas during the sunny days, the river looks like a dry barren land.
This is how the view of the rivers of the district is visible since last March. Most of the rivers in the district have dried up, some rivers have a thin edge flowing. Due to which there is a possibility of water crisis in the district. Let us tell you that this problem has become a problem of every year in the district. Due to which there is a need to build dams on the rivers of the district. Only the government does not seem to be making efforts in this regard.
tap water supply scheme affected
The tap water supply schemes have been implemented by the administration on the rivers flowing in the district. In the last few years, this scheme has been implemented in many villages of the district. But during the sunny days, this plan looks like a white elephant. Due to the drying up of the rivers during the sunny days, this scheme does not work.
Due to which in many villages only the taps are visible in front of the Dhupkale river water tanks and houses. Let us tell you that due to increase in temperature since March, the rivers of the district are drying up. In such a situation, tap schemes have been closed in some villages, while in some villages it is on the verge of closure.
The shadow of water crisis on the increased irrigation area
Irrigation area of the district has increased in the last few years. Due to which the farmers are irrigating the fields through ground water. Irrigation is being done at many places by planting borewells. Due to which the ground water level of the villages gets depleted. Due to which the wells of the village also dry up, and the hand pumps also die. In such a situation, in many villages, villagers have to bring water from borewells located in the fields. For the next 2 to 3 months, the villagers have to wander for water.
Worse situation in inaccessible areas
Even after 7 decades of independence, facilities have not been found in the inaccessible area of the district. Even the tribals have to yearn for basic facilities. Citizens of inaccessible areas have to do extensive labor for water during sunny days. Many people have to bring water from distant springs and drains.
At the same time, the villagers bring water from there by preparing pits in the river and drains. In inaccessible villages, tap scheme operated on solar energy has been implemented. But due to lack of care, in many places this plan is ineffective. In such a situation, the villagers are quenching their thirst from the water sources given by nature.
