Republic Day 2022: Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh is the first woman pilot in India to fly a Rafale jet fitter. He also participated in the parade on the occasion of Republic Day 2022 in New Delhi. Shivangi Singh participated in the tableau of the Indian Air Force (IAF). Singh is the second woman fighter jet pilot to be a part of the Indian Air Force tableau. Last year, Flight Lieutenant Bhawana Kanth became the first woman fighter jet pilot to be a part of the IAF’s tableau.
Shivangi Singh hails from Banaras, Uttar Pradesh. She had joined IAF in the year 2017. She has flown MiG-21 Bison aircraft before flying Rafale.
Part of the Golden Arrows Squadron
Shivangi is part of the Golden Arrows Squadron of the Air Force based in Ambala, Punjab. The title of the Air Force tableau was Indian Air Force, The Indian Air Force Transforming for the Future. Scaled down models of MiG-21, G-Net, Light Combat Helicopter and Rafale aircraft along with Ashlesha Radar were also displayed in the tableau.
Shivangi, daughter of businessman Kumareshwar Singh, joined Air NCC while graduating from science and first took training in flying a plane at BHU itself. He got the inspiration to join the army from his maternal grandfather. In 2016, getting a chance to participate in the Republic Day parade proved to be a turning point for Shivangi.

Let us inform that the first batch of Rafale fighter aircraft reached India on July 29, 2020. So far 32 Rafale aircraft have arrived in the country in order to deal with 36 fighter jets from France and four Rafale aircraft can come by April this year. The governments of France and India signed contracts worth 7.8 billion euros (about $8.8 billion) in September 2016.
