Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, once again politics has started regarding the names of districts and cities. According to the information, on the lines of the first term, the Yogi government can change the names of some districts and cities this time too. According to the information received, now a campaign has been started to change the names of 12 districts in the state. Proposals have been made by the local public representatives to change the name of many of these districts. It is being told that there may be an idea to change the names of 12 districts. The first of these are reported to be renamed Aligarh, Farrukhabad, Badaun, Sultanpur, Firozabad and Shahjahanpur. Proposals for change of name have also been sent to the government from these 6 districts.
In non-district headquarter cities, the name of Deoband of Saharanpur can also be changed to Devvrind. MLA Brajesh Kumar has proposed to change the name of Deoband.
Proposals to change names started coming from many districts.
With the new government taking over, proposals for renaming have started pouring in from many districts of the state. The churning has started in the state government to change the name. In the previous tenure of Yogi government, the name of Faizabad district was changed to Ayodhya and Allahabad to Prayagraj. Apart from this, the state government had recommended changing the name of Mughalsarai Junction to Deendayal Upadhyay, which was accepted by the central government. Aligarh’s Zilla Panchayat has sent a proposal to change the name of the district to Harigarh or Aryagarh, Farrukhabad MP Mukesh Rajput has sent a proposal to rename the district as Panchal Nagar. The demand to change the name of Aligarh district to Harigarh was first made by Vishwa Hindu Parishad in 2015.

Earlier, the then MLA of Sultanpur district, Devmani Dwivedi, had recommended changing the name of the district to Kushbhavanpur. Alka Rai, former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Ghazipur, had proposed to change the name of the district to Gadhipuri. During the election campaign, the Chief Minister himself had described Badaun district as the place of study of Vedas and now it has been proposed to change its name to Vedamau. In the previous tenure of the Yogi government itself, the local public representatives had proposed to rename Firozabad as Chandranagar and Shahjahanpur as Shajipur. In August last year itself, the district panchayat had passed a resolution to change the name of Mainpur to Mayanpuri. The demand to change the name of Agra district to Agravan is also being raised for a long time.
Changes in some names will be proposed in the upcoming session of the Vidhan Sabha.
According to state government officials, a proposal to change the names of districts will be presented in the assembly with concrete evidence and after getting approval from there, it will have to be sent to the Center. Changes in some names may be proposed in the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly. It is believed that the work of renaming all a dozen districts will not be done simultaneously, but according to the demand. The districts whose demand for renaming is already going on will be considered first.
