Thane: In the CAG report of the Municipal Corporation, it has been revealed that out of Rs 308 crore of Metro Development Fee in the last five years, only Rs 65 crore has been deposited in the treasury. While still the negligence of the Municipal Administration is being exposed in being able to recover about Rs 241 crore. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) made the above disclosure saying that the CAG report of Thane Municipal Corporation has revealed that while implementing the metro project from 2017 to 2019, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) allowed developers to occupancy without increasing the metro development charges. Certificate (OC) was issued.
On one hand, this revenue of crores is not being collected by the Municipal Administration, but the property tax of Thanekar is being collected compulsorily. Although the officials of the Municipal Corporation say that this amount is not 308 crores but only 131 crores. Regarding which MNS Divisional President Sandeep Panche objected and said that if the metropolitan authorities are taking the metro development fee only Rs 131 crore instead of 308 crore, then why are they shying away from sharing the CAG report as well. Along with this, he also demanded an inquiry in this context.

Metro was started as an important civil transport project on 1 March 2016 as a solution to the transportation problem due to the increasing urbanization of Thane. The Thane Municipal Corporation has not recovered the development fee at the increased rate from 2017 to 2020. Therefore, from March 2017 to 2020, the Municipal Corporation has suffered a loss of Rs 308 crore. The said matter has been exposed from the CAG report of the Municipal Corporation. Now MNS has opened a front against it. MNS Divisional President Sandeep Panche says that why did the then Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal implement the policy of generosity towards developers? He also said that the decision seems to have directly benefited the developers and it is suspected that this concession has definitely led to large financial transactions. Because on one hand the officials of the Municipal Corporation are saying that only Rs 131 crore was to be recovered in this, out of which Rs 65 crore has been recovered. Whereas the CAG report shows that about Rs 241 crore was not recovered. Therefore, the question is being raised on who is hiding the information.

Panchge says that Sunil Patil, executive engineer of the Municipal Development Department, has written a letter to him informing him that the recovery of metro development fee has started. But I have doubts on the recovery of the Municipal Corporation, when will the rest be recovered? On this, the officials of the Municipal Corporation are seen avoiding speaking anything. Therefore it is necessary to investigate this matter.
