Mumbai: The Mumbai Municipal Administration is in a hurry to get all the proposals passed before the end of this five-year session. The term of BMC corporators is ending on 7 March. No one knows when the BMC elections will be held after that. Therefore, the BMC administration also wants to get the proposal brought during the monsoons passed. A record 255 proposals have been brought in the last meeting of the Standing Committee. Earlier, the 201 proposal brought in the last meeting has also been left behind. The BMC administration has estimated an expenditure of Rs 800 crore on these proposals.
The BMC administration distributed the agenda of the program which has 160 proposals. The proposal includes drain cleaning, widening of the drainage line and all repair works. In the proposal brought by BMC, Rs 400 crore will be spent on cleaning the drain and water logging in the rainy season, while Rs 270 crore will be spent on the repair of storm water drainage line. A proposal of 100 crores has also been brought for repair of roads.
Only 55 resolutions were passed in the last meeting.
In the last meeting of the committee also 201 proposals were brought on which Rs 2300 crore was to be spent, but only 55 proposals were passed due to the opposition of BJP members. It was agreed to bring the rest of the proposal later. BJP members had come to the committee meeting wearing banners. This was seen for the first time when no member of Shiv Sena lodged any objection to the banner of BJP members. Yashwant Jadhav also did not oppose the sloganeering of BJP members in the committee meeting held after the Income Tax Department raid at Yashwant Jadhav’s house. He looked very disappointed in the meeting.

160 new proposal put up for approval
The BMC administration has put 160 new proposals before the Standing Committee for approval, while 96 proposals that were not taken in the last meeting have been put up for approval again. All resolutions are expected to be passed due to the last meeting being held and the monsoon season unfolding. However, opposition to this meeting on behalf of the opposition members is believed to be fixed.
We will continue to oppose the proposal to be brought in the next meeting. The administration should have thought before bringing so many proposals. There is no point in bringing a resolution which was not taken up in the last meeting.

The final meeting of the committee is taking place and what does the BMC administration want to show by bringing hundreds of proposals. This proposal is for the new five year plan of BMC, then why does the BMC administration want to pass it. New corporators will come after electing them, let them send work proposals and then bring them. We will oppose these proposals.
