In Telangana, Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar said that the central government has banned the ration card in Telugu states. However, he also said in the Assembly on Saturday that issuing ration cards to the people in the state is a continuous process, which will continue even further. In his talk, he added that if the ration is not taken on the existing cards for three consecutive months, then it will be canceled.
A few months ago, such reports were also coming on social media. On people’s mobiles, such messages were coming on WhatsApp that ration cards would be canceled for not using them for three months. In the viral news, it was written that according to the instructions of the Central Government, the ration card can be canceled if the grain is not taken for three months.
What if I could not get a ration for 3 months?
Ration card consumers are given grain at very cheap rates from the government every month. The beneficiaries take ration cards to the shops of the public distribution system and after entering the card, they take wheat and rice. Many times it happens that the whole family moves to another city for some work, ceremony or in search of employment.
In such a situation, no one remains in the house and he is unable to get ration. It happens with many families that they are unable to get ration for many months. But then when they return, they are able to pick up the ration for that month. There have been no complaints that his card has been canceled due to not taking ration for only 3 months. To solve this problem, the government has implemented the One Nation One Ration Card scheme.
Was denied by the government
Three months ago in December 2020, there were reports that ration cards would be canceled for not using them for 3 months. Then the news was denied by the Fact Check Team of PIB i.e. Press Information Bureau on behalf of the government. It was told that no such guidelines have been given by the government.
PIB Fact Check (PIBFactCheck) had tweeted, ‘It is being claimed in some media reports that the Central Government has issued instructions to the State Governments, including the cancellation of ration card in case the ration is not taken for three months. It has been said.
PIBFactCheck Had further told that this claim is fake. The central government has not given any such guidelines. It was told by PIB that such claims are fake. In such a situation, the news of canceling the card for not lifting the ration for 3 months is misleading. Therefore, if you receive such a message, then you do not trust him at all.
One Nation, One Ration Card motive
The Central Government has implemented the One Nation, One Ration Card Scheme for the convenience of the people. Its main objective is that the benefits of the National Food Security Act and other welfare schemes continue to be extended to the families of migrant workers and beneficiaries. They continue to get ration at reasonable prices anywhere in the country. For this scheme, the Aadhaar seeding of ration card, the beneficiary’s biometric system was started at all fair price shops in the state.
The central government has clarified that even after the implementation of the ‘One Nation, One Ration’ card scheme, the old ration card will continue to run. It will be updated only on the basis of the new rule, so that it will be valid in the whole country. There is no need to create a new ration card separately. Those who already have a ration card will get the benefit of One Nation One Ration Card based on the same ration card.
