Jaipur: Announcing the cancellation of Level-2 examination of Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET), Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Monday that this examination will now be afresh. Gehlot has made this announcement amid the investigation into the leaking of Reet exam papers.
Talking to reporters after the cabinet meeting at his residence, Gehlot said, “Today we have taken the decision to cancel the REET level-2 examination. Level-2 exam will be canceled and fresh exam will be conducted. Along with this, he said that the old system of the Government of India for REET… first the primary examination and then the main examination….

Simultaneously, Gehlot said, “The number of recruitments to be done through REIT will be increased from 32,000 to 62,000. These include both Level-1 and Level-2. He said that the state government would bring a strict law in the assembly to prevent paper leaks and copying in competitive examinations.
Gehlot tweeted, “The decision has been taken to cancel the REET level-2 examination in the cabinet meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence. The level-1 process will continue as before. Now there will be recruitment for a total of 62,000 posts in both the levels. SOG is investigating the discrepancies in the REET exam. Our government will ensure justice to the youth by bringing every guilty to justice.”
It is noteworthy that Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) was conducted on 26 September for about 31,000 teachers of class III in Rajasthan. This examination for teachers of two levels was conducted in two different shifts in which in total more than 20 lakh candidates appeared in a single day. However, due to the leak of Level-2 paper, the conduct of the examination came into controversy. SOG is investigating this.
