New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday that Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra should be sacked in the backdrop of the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) application in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case in the court. When Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla asked Rahul Gandhi during Question Hour to ask his listed supplementary question related to the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, the Congress MP raised the issue of Lakhimpur Kheri violence and alleged that Mishra was involved in the incident. .
Rahul Gandhi, Lok Sabha member from Kerala’s Wayanad said, “Ministers are involved in the murder in Lakhimpur Kheri. There should be a discussion about that. There should be punishment… the minister should be thrown out of the government.” During this, Lok Sabha Speaker Birla appealed to Rahul to ask only questions related to the subject.
“You are a senior member. You say you don’t get a chance to speak. I am giving you full opportunity to ask questions on the subject.” On the other hand, members of the Congress and some other opposition parties continued to raise slogans over the issue even today due to which the proceedings of the House were disrupted and the Question Hour could not go on.

Rahul Gandhi gave adjournment notice in Lok Sabha on Wednesday on Lakhimpur Kheri issue. In the notice, he had demanded the adjournment of the scheduled business in the House and said that there should be a discussion in the House regarding the SIT report.

SIT’s Chief Investigating Inspector Vidyaram Diwakar has requested the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) to prosecute the accused under the sections of the above charges in the application given in the court. Ashish Mishra Monu, son of the Union Minister of State for Home, and some others are accused of thrashing the protesting farmers with a jeep at Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3.
