Chandigarh: Four leaders of Punjab Pradesh Congress on Tuesday wrote a letter to party’s national president Sonia Gandhi urging that state government minister Rana Gurjit Singh should be thrown out of the Congress as he was unable to do so in the assembly. We are ‘weakening’ the party ahead of the elections 2022. Congress has fielded Gurjit as its candidate from Kapurthala assembly constituency.
Meanwhile, Gurjit’s son Rana Inder Pratap Singh has decided to contest as an independent from Sultanpur Lodhi assembly seat in Kapurthala district. Congress has nominated its MLA Navtej Singh Cheema for this seat.

These leaders issued this letter to the media here. “Rana Gurjit Singh is interfering in several assembly constituencies of Doaba region and weakening the party,” it said.
“We informed the state unit leadership about the anti-party activities of Rana Gurjit, but instead of taking action against him, he was re-inducted into the cabinet,” these leaders said.
