Pune: Soon the residents of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad are going to get a chance to travel by Metro. The metro will run in the last week of January between Vanaj to Garware College and Pimpri-Chinchwad in Pimpri-Chinchwad on the priority route of Pune Metro. The date of inauguration will be decided soon by the central and state government, Brijesh Dixit, the administrative director of MahaMetro, gave such information. The Metro is likely to be inaugurated in the third or fourth week of January.
On completion of about 95 percent work of Garware College station of Metro, a visit was organized by MahaMetro for the information of media representatives. At this time, information about the launch of Metro was given in the press conference. Mahametro’s administrative director Brijesh Dixit, executive director Atul Gadgil, Gautam Birhade and Vinod Agarwal were present.

The work of stations is almost being completed
The metro will run on a distance of 5 km from Vanaj to Garware and 7 km from Pimpri to Fugewadi. 5-5 stations will be implemented on both these routes. In these stations, 95 percent work of Garware College and Sant Tukaramnagar station has been completed. The work of other stations has been completed up to 90 percent. The remaining work will be completed by January 15. Brijesh Dixit gave this information. He further said that shuttle bus service will be made available for passengers from Yerwada, Kalyaninagar and Ramwadi metro stations to Lohgaon airport. For this, the Mahametro administration has discussed with PMPML. Until the location of the new airport is not decided, the airport route cannot be finalized, Dixit also clarified.
Target to complete the work by December 2022
Dixit said that the entire project of 31 km length of the metro was targeted to be completed in December 2021, but due to corona infection and lockdown, this work got delayed. As per the present management, this project is targeted to be completed by December 2022. During this, the discussion of the third wave of Corona continues. So it will be challenging to work in the time to come.
Helpline at station
If the passengers need any kind of help at the metro stations, then on pressing the button near the lift, a call will be made directly to the station controller. If the phone is not picked up from there, the call will be added to the main control room of the metro. If any item of the passengers remains in the metro, through the helpline, the staff of the metro at the next station will be able to take that thing in their possession and return it to the passengers.
Metro’s income from advertising
Dixit said that a contract for advertisement of Rs 25 lakh for one year has been fixed with a bank through advertisement on Metro coach. A private hospital at Garware College Station has signed a five-year advertising contract worth Rs 65 lakh. An advertisement of Rs 45 lakh has also been done with a private organization at Nalstop station.
