Pune/Pimpri: The tower line supplying power to both 400 kV ultra-high voltage sub-stations of Lonikand and Chakan of Mahatransmission tripped at 5 places at around 4.30 am on Wednesday. As a result, power supply to Kothrud, Shivaji Nagar, Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad city as well as Chakan MIDC, Lonikand, Wagholi area has been disrupted since 6 am. . Its effect was also seen on the water supply system of Pimpri-Chinchwad. There was no water supply in the city this morning. By noon, the power supply started to be smooth.
According to the statement issued by Mahatransmission in this regard, the tower line may get damaged due to heavy fog and dew. Also, alternate power supply could not be provided due to closure of two important high pressure sub-stations of 400 kV.

Meanwhile, MSEDCL is providing the information through SMS on the mobile number registered by the electricity consumers. All the senior engineers of Mahatransmission are presently working on a war footing to find out the fault in the tower line. It may take at least three to four hours for power supply to be restored. The power supply had started to be restored from 11.30 am. Maha transmission and Mahavitaran have appealed to the power consumers to cooperate during this period.
Fog and dew due to tripping
Due to the cold, the mercury has dropped in Pune and Pimpri. The intensity of cold has increased in the entire district. According to the statement of Mahatransmission, the tower line is likely to break due to dense fog and dew. It was also clarified that alternate power supply could not be provided due to closure of two important 400 kV ultra high voltage substations. Meanwhile, Mahavitaran said that information is also being sent through SMS on registered mobile numbers by the electricity consumers.

All the senior engineers of Mahatransmission are presently patrolling the battlefield to find out the fault in the tower line. Mohapatrashan said that it may take at least three to four hours for power supply to be restored at all places. It is being said that power supply will be restored by 11 am. Meanwhile, Mahatransmission and MSEDCL have appealed to the power consumers to cooperate during this period. Along with this, an appeal has been made to use water as little as possible. There is no electricity since 6 in the morning and all electrical work is at a standstill. Many people have suffered because of this and people are facing a lot of trouble.
