Nagpur. The Education Department is working towards promoting English medium private schools by breaking the back of government schools. The Department of Elementary Education has approved proposals for 1,699 schools in the five years from 2016 till now, while the government schools in the district are even less. The number of primary schools of the Zilla Parishad is 1,534. Proposals of 300 English schools are coming up for approval every year. These include schools from 1st to 4th and from 5th to 8th. Statistics show that there are more English schools in rural areas than in urban areas. Due to private schools, the number of students in Zilla Parishad schools has started decreasing.
Proposals for new schools are submitted to the Department of Elementary Education for inclusion in the RTE scheme of the Central Government. Sample part number two has to be filled for RTE recognition. From 1st April 2016 to 31st March 2019, proposals of 914 schools were received by the Education Department. After this, from 1 April 2019 till now 785 proposals came for approval.
crisis for government schools
The government has prepared a three-year Prospective Plan. For this, only the time period till 31 March 2022 has been given. That is, for the next two and a half months, the proposals of schools can increase further. In rural part, there are 1,534 schools of Zilla Parishad from 1st to 8th class, 82 of Municipal Council and 156 of Municipal Corporation but the number of students in government schools is decreasing day by day. Teachers have to wander for students, on the other hand teachers are getting extra every year due to less students. Experts say that if the number of private schools continues to increase like this, then the crisis on government schools will deepen.
