Powerbill customers started getting without subsidy
Electricity company has started sending power bills to customers without electricity subsidy. Many powerloom owners expressed their grief and said that the government is busy destroying the powerloom industry. The powerloom industry is already counting its last breath due to yarn speculation, steep hike in power tariff, which is now on the verge of being completely wiped out due to the discontinuation of power subsidy. The electricity bill increased from Rs 2 87 paise per unit during the start of power subsidy to about Rs 7 after the subsidy ended. No one can stop the powerloom industry from shutting down due to the increase in electricity rates by more than Rs 4 in a single stroke by the government. Till the start of electricity subsidy, the bill of 24 looms was about 30 thousand, now after the subsidy is over, more than 64 thousand have started coming. The ban on electricity subsidy by Mahavitaran put the powerloom industry on the verge of extinction, from which the industry can never recover. It would be better to stay away from the powerloom business.
Government is not doing any hearing
Powerloom organizations say that after the ban on power subsidy, the meeting held with the government has not yielded any fruitful result. In the assembly session, Deputy Chief Minister, Finance Minister Ajit Pawar talked about restoring the power subsidy, but no order has been received by the power company so far. Textiles Minister Aslam Shaikh also assured of restoration of subsidy, but due to no circular, there has been great disappointment among the powerloom owners and huge resentment towards the government.
Order will come after the convention
If government sources are to be believed, then the order for restoration of power subsidy can come after the assembly session is over. The eyes of the powerloom owners are fixed on the decision of the government.
