Mumbai: The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch has destroyed the drugs seized during separate raids in Mumbai. It is being told that under a process, 3,092 kg of drugs worth Rs 14.35 crore have been confiscated by the police. The drugs destroyed included narcotics such as hemp, hashish, mephedrone and cocaine.
According to a report, the Mumbai Police first took permission from the court as part of the procedure to destroy the drugs recovered in such a huge quantity, after which the drugs were burnt and destroyed in today’s time. It was destroyed with the help and presence of a panel member of the Drug Disposal Committee. The drugs were seized by various units of the Anti-Narcotic Cell over the past one year, an official said. This was among the 26 major cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

The report quoted the officer as saying that, on December 15, the seized drugs were destroyed in a closed furnace in Mumbai Waste Management Limited Plot No. P-32. Drugs destroyed include Marijuana – 3003 kg 372 g, Hashish – 3 kg 297 g, Cocaine – 24 g, Mephedrone – 866 g, Heroin – 159 g, Amphetamine – 84 kg 687 g, Cough syrup bottles – 11,271, Coir 124 was involved. Their total cost was Rs 14.35 crore.
