MumbaiMumbai Cyber Police has detained a woman from Uttarakhand in connection with the ‘Bully Bye’ app case. Let us tell you that earlier on Monday, the police arrested an engineering student from Bangalore. The detained woman is believed to be the main accused in the case.
Earlier, the police had registered an FIR against unknown persons after receiving a complaint that pictures of Muslim women were put up for ‘auction’ on the app of ‘GitHub’ platform. An official said that in this regard, a team of Mumbai Cyber Police has detained a woman from Uttarakhand who is the main accused. The official declined to provide further details.

He said that a team of Crime Branch is in Uttarakhand and the woman is being questioned. The official said the woman would be produced in a court for transit remand and then brought to Mumbai. In connection with the case, the cyber police also arrested a 21-year-old engineering student from Bengaluru who has been identified as Vishal Kumar, the official said.
He said that both the accused know each other and further investigation is on in the matter. The Mumbai Cyber Police Station has also registered a case against the developer of the app and the Twitter handle promoting it. The case pertains to putting morphed pictures and descriptions of hundreds of Muslim women without permission for ‘auction’ on an app called ‘Bully Bai’. This is the second time this has happened in less than a year. Similar content was posted on an app called ‘Sully Deals’ last year.
