New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the two states on Tuesday to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of several development projects in Manipur and Tripura. The Prime Minister’s Office said on Sunday that he would launch 22 projects worth Rs 4,800 crore in Imphal, while in Agartala he would inaugurate a new integrated terminal building at the Maharaja Bir Bikram airport and also launch two important development projects.
In Manipur, Modi will inaugurate 13 projects worth Rs 1,850 crore and lay the foundation stone for nine projects worth Rs 2,950 crore. These projects are related to diverse sectors including road infrastructure, drinking water supply, health, urban development, housing, information technology, skill development and arts and culture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for five national highways to be built at an estimated cost of over Rs 1,700 crore, like ongoing projects across the country to improve connectivity. Another important project is a Rs 75-crore steel bridge over the Barak river on National Highway-37 to increase connectivity from Imphal to Silchar and will be inaugurated by Modi. The Prime Minister will also dedicate 2,387 mobile towers to the people of Manipur, built at a cost of about Rs 1,100 crore, to improve mobile connectivity.
The PMO said that drinking water supply projects will be inaugurated in the state as part of Modi’s exercise to reach every household with clean drinking water. These include Rs 280 crore water transmission system of Thobal Multipurpose Project. Another project will provide clean drinking water to residents of 10 areas of Tamenglong district at a cost of Rs 65 crore. Modi will also inaugurate “Senapati District Headquarters Water Supply Scheme” at a cost of Rs 51 crore.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of a cancer hospital to be built in Imphal at a cost of Rs 160 crore. He will also inaugurate a 200-bed COVID hospital in Kiamgei. As part of efforts to revitalize Indian cities, Modi will launch several projects under the “Imphal Smart City Mission”.
The PMO said that Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT). This project is the biggest initiative of public-private partnership in the state and it will give a big boost to the information technology sector and will also generate employment opportunities in the state. The PMO said that Modi will lay the foundation of two projects to strengthen the handloom industry in Manipur. (agency)
