PM Narendra Modi praised the army on ‘Army Day’, the three army chiefs also paid tribute to the martyrs

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lauded the Indian Army on the occasion of ‘Army Day’, saying it is known for its bravery and professionalism and put into words its incomparable contribution to national security. Statement cannot be made. Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every year to remember Field Marshal KM Cariappa taking over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.

Cariappa took over in 1949 from the last top British commander of the Indian Army. The Prime Minister said, “Indian Army personnel serve in remote areas and are at the forefront of helping civilians during humanitarian crisis, including national calamities. India is proud of the outstanding contribution of the Army during peacekeeping operations abroad.

He said, “Happy Army Day especially to the brave soldiers, respected retired servicemen and their families. The Indian Army is known for its bravery and professionalism. His incomparable contribution to national security cannot be described in words.
